'Orange headed Starlings'

We have received a number of reports of such birds and had some recent pics from Margaret Adamson (see also - .http://www.birdingforpleasure.blogspot.com/ ), Chris Murphy has also kindly sent in the pics below of birds feeding and the cause. It is due to the orange pollen on stamens of New Zealand Flax, which paints the heads of nectar-feeding birds and can cause birders to miss a heartbeat!
