Bird News Monday 13th February

The Snowy Owl was still at Altikeeragh this morning on remote blanket bog. (George Gordon/Craig Nash)
The Bonaparte's Gull remains at Ballygally, Larne Lough.(Birdguides)
The Cattle Egret was once again seen going to roost at Hillsborough Lake.
Around Larne Lough a second winter Iceland Gull, the female or immature Goosander and 2 Little Egret were at Glynn (Gerard McGeehan, Cameron Moore). The Dark-bellied Brent, 4 Little Egret and 2 Whooper Swan were at Church Bay (Cameron Moore) and an adult Iceland Gull at Larne Harbour (Gerard McGeehan). 2 Sanderling and a Purple Sandpiper were at Sandy Bay (Cameron Moore).

A first year Marsh Harrier (the bird from Portmore?) was at the southwest shore of Lough Beg (Matthew Tickner)
13 Snow Bunting were on the shingle beach on the way down to Magilligan (Iris Millar)
A dozen each of Redwing and Fieldfare with about 200 Starlings at City of Belfast playing fields at Chimney Corner. (Jim & Rachel McKeown)
A male Kestrel was at Ballydrain Road , Comber, see picture below. (Stephen Maxwell)
A Long Eared Owl flew across the A57 near Templepatrick on the Ballyclare side of the M2 this evening. (Adam McClure)
