Bird News Monday 3rd October

There was no sign of the Red Breasted Flycatcher at Ramore Head, Portrush today. A first winter Mediterranean Gull and the adult Ring Billed Gull were at the East Strand carpark. (Matthew Tickner et al).

An adult Great Spotted Woodpecker was in a garden along Mount Stewart Road at Carrowdore and a juvenile has been visiting a garden half a mile away. (Mr Greenway).

A juvenile Black Tern, Common Tern and 10 Ruff were at Lough Beg. (David Steele).

At Larne Lough an adult Mediterranean Gull, a Little Egret and a high count of 13 Greenshank were off Glynn. (Cameron Moore).

Last night a Barn Owl was between Annahilt and Ballynahinch. (Garry Wilkinson).

8 Sandwich Tern and approximately 1500 Kittiwake were off Newcastle this evening. (Adam McClure).
